Commitment versus persuasion in the three-party constrained voter model

In the framework of the three-party constrained voter model, where voters of two radical parties (A and B) interact with “centrists” (C and Cζ ), we study the competition between a persuasive majority and a committed minority. In this model, A’s and B’s are incompatible voters that can convince centrists or be swayed by them. Here, radical voters are more persuasive than centrists, whose sub-po...

Super-Brownian Limits of Voter Model Clusters

The voter model is one of the standard interacting particle systems. Two related problems for this process are to analyze its behavior, after large times t, for the sets of sites (a) sharing the same opinion as the site 0, and (b) having the opinion that was originally at 0. Results on the sizes of these sets were given in [Sa79] and [BG80]. Here, we investigate the spatial structure of these s...

The Dynamics of Voter Turnout and Party Choice

A considerable body of research focuses on why voter turnout changed — specifically, why it declined — in the 1960s and 1970s. Finding The Swing Voter : Methods for Voter Classification

Using on-line processing based in emotion, voters form affective summaries about candidates, which store previous information as an emotional response. The act of voting is treated as a single realization of a probabilistic eve...

Voter Model and Biased Voter Model in Heterogeneous Environments

With the rapid adoption of transgenic crops, gene flow from transgenic crops to wild relatives through pollen dispersal is of significant concern andwarrants both empirical and theoretical studies to assess the risk of introduction of transgenes into wild populations. We propose to use the (biased) voter model in a heterogeneous environment to investigate the effects of recurrent gene flow from...
